How To Remove Permanent Marker From Items

Greetings!

Learned this trick from the eBay Scavengers.

If you have permanent marker on certain items ... you know, like when a garage sale seller or thrift store decides it's ok to write the price right on the lens of the glasses ... or the sole of a shoe?

All you need to do is splash a little bit of pure olive oil onto a paper towel or rag and scrub it off!

  1. Great tip Bruce. I had also heard using dry erase marker and writing over the permanent maker and then wiping it will remove it. I like the olive oil trick. I have a Vintage Sears Ice cream maker I bought that looks like someone wrote in marker all over it.

    1. Thanks Steven! I hear you are trying to get your store up and running with vintage and 2nd hand items as well. Hopefully we can give each other pointers and tips along the way!

I've never heard of that dry eraser method ... would be interesting to try it out.

      Thanks for reading the blog!

  2. Great blog Bruce and yes I have about 70 items and would love to get to 100 sooner then later. Who knows, hitting some sales tomorrow like you and see what happens. It's not easy to find good stuff always but every once in awhile I get lucky! Keep posting, love what you are doing so far.

  3. I am a fairly new ebayer and bought a pair of shoes not realizing they'd sell so quick after posting and couldn't find my nail polish remover. I caught olive oil on sale recently and had a nice stock pile. Thanks for saving me from the frantic search for the remover.
